Re: Twist shift or Bar end shifters ?

VeloVision - 1. Februar 2015 - 15:52
I'd still go for bar ends, all my trikes have them and they are easy to use.

If it is direct steer, like a Catrike I'd urge you to go for barends. I had twist shift on my Trail, and dumped them in very short order as each gear change meant a slight steering input. The issue was knowing exactly when the twist shift actually changed the gear. as it does the pressure on the steering changes too. As the Trail was my third trike I knew what I was doing as to riding and steering but a double change (Front and rear at the same time was way too 'exiting!')

Twist shift or Bar end shifters ?

Re: M5 High Racer

VeloVision - 28. Januar 2015 - 16:37
Hi Just to say we have one up here in Edinburgh. I'm around 1.85m and close to limit height wise. x -seam is 43" Posted a review on our FB page couple of days ago. Comparing M5 to other bikes like Optima High Baron you notice road noise more. So there is a price for being faster and more rigid. You'll probably know that though. Our one is second hand and plan to keep it for a while as they are quite rare and expensive - even for a bike dealer. Not sure how many CHRs have been made. Interesting bike though...

Hi Keith, Thank you for your kind offer, however I'm in the South East, in Hertfordshire. Andrew

Where abouts are you? I have a 2012 Vortex FS (probably similar to current Sprint FSX but with hardshell seat). You are welcome to try it. I am in the north east. Keith

ICE Sprint, VTX, Catrike 700

VeloVision - 27. Januar 2015 - 14:11
Would be great to hear from someone who has an ICE VTX and Sprint (to compare if possible) who is willing for me to test ride them. I've test ridden a Sprint RS but haven't been able to find a VTX. The only option at the moment is to go on a very long journey to Falmouth... Being able to test a Vortex or Catrike 700 would also be really helpful due to the experience of sitting at a lower seat angle. PS Have posted same request on other forums (if you see this elsewhere)

M5 High Racer

VeloVision - 16. Januar 2015 - 19:52
Very new to this forum but here goes! I'm looking at the M5 Racer dual 700C High Racer (or possibly the equivalent carbon high racer). I prefer the use of 700C's for superior rolling resistance & choice of wheels & tyres. However, I also prefer to be as low as possible (410mm & 480mm seat heights respectively). Am about to contact M5 directly to see about bike specs but also about the possibility of buying just a frame kit. However, before doing that I thought I would ask the forum for their opinions. Many thanks.

Re: Schlumpf Drive/short crank question

VeloVision - 15. Januar 2015 - 13:47
I don't think the easy shift plates are necessary. I used them with the 170 cranks for a while but had trouble with them rotating around the pedal spindle when they got nudged accidentally. I use Speed Drives (1:1 and 1:1.65) on three cycles with 150 and 155 mm cranks, and previously with 170 mm, all of which are easily shifted using the normal shift button alone. Note that you can also adjust the amount that the shift button protrudes from the Schlumpf Drive. Howard.

Re: Unbelievable !

I think it was a joke to start with. I also think it is a bit harsh for a young man just starting out on his career to be sacked for being a dick on a social media site full of dicks who are all trying to one up each other. Especially as it has no connection with his employment. He sounds like a young, immature lad who has hopefully learnt a sharp lesson very quickly.

What a total clown! Hopefully further investigations will find a cyclist who can confirm the truth of the original post and he will see the clown in court.

Don't know if you're sorted yet, but this ad just popped up with GoParcelExpress.com No experience with them, and no max dimensions indicated, but prices look reasonable and they mention trikes in the Menu. Plus online chat for further info. http://www.goparcelexpress.com/collections/bicycles-tandems-trikes-and-more

If its not a Trike, put it in a bike box and send it with DHL or UPS. That's how mine was sent from the UK to Denmark.
